The Madan Mohanji Temple
An example of the Ratna style architecture is 300 years old one of the best Terracotta temples of Bengal Built in 1694 A.D.by Durjan Singha, Malla Kingdom Madan Mohan Temple dedicated to Radha and Krishna. When it comes to beauty, the single-sikhara(dome) on top of a curved Bengal chala-roof is considered as second-to-none, amongst its kind.
STRUCTURE: The famous Bengal Chala-roof is at its best. The temple is built in Ekaratna style. The building is square and made of locally available laterite stone. Design layout for the interior of the temples, there is a porch covered by the vault and the sanctum is covered by the central dome. The curved roofs (Chala) of the Bengali huts have inspired the exterior curved cornice and the parapet of the temple. The terracotta work is minute, yet marvellous! The master architect left their signature mark on the wall with pride.
